Making Changes

We talked in class today about how you have changed since entering the Bridge program. I think it would be interesting to look at how that change has been documented through the blog's writing. Look back at some of your older posts (and your classmates' older post). Then, try to clarify, edit, critique what you and the class has written. Was a particular post unclear? Why? How has your writing changed since day one? How has your classmates? What types of topics are you covering now that you didn't feel comfortable talking about in other posts. Try to be reflective of this blogging time and your writing experience.

  2. I feel like as you read from blog to blog the posts and comments get a more and more intellectual as well as getting deeper. I think because of the books were reading we all have a different outlook on certain situations and our able to take those and write something more meaningful on the blog each day. Also I feel like after the days go by we get to know eachother a little better and can feel more comfortable about writing things on the blog making them better.

  3. I went back and looked at my first post. I was only one sentence long, which is incredibly tiny compared to how i write posts now. Now i try to write as much as i can in a post and try to at least write one paragraph. I'm not sure if it is because i am getting used to typing a lot of blog posts or if i am just becoming more interested in posting and seeing what my classmates post as well. It also seems like everyday the questions become more in depth and detailed with things like several questions and even videos. Everyone's posts have come equally in depth as well, so overall i would say the discussion on the blog has expanded a lot since when we had first started.

  4. my old blogs were good, but there just were way to short. i had alot more to say on all of them but didn't because i didn't want to make it so long. i wish i could of responded to one of them as a video. i love reading my classmates blogs because the get so much in to it. we have covered a series of topics from writing to music, we have covered it all! it is a great feeling! i used to write a line or two and that was it. now i try to get a paragragh of two.

  5. Looking at what people have posted and commented I see a pattern in the responces being similar. It seems as though a lot of people here are on the same level on many things, that just makes it easier to knock that wall of apprehension down and write what we feel knowing that our peers wont judge us negatively and may even relate. Overall you can see the growth in peoples writing. Growth may not be the correct term, it could just be that we're taking this more seriously.

  6. I have to agree with Quentin, I feel like after reading everybody elses responses, It makes me strive to put more effort into the comments that I write. I think a first, I kindof was just answering questions like they where just like a face to face convwersation. Now I kindof sit back & critique what I write. Like I feel as if Im putting more effort into my comments now.

  7. Wow, looking at a lot of the older post that we have done. I feel like us as an class have came along way. We have showed more emotion through writing and blog post. We have gotten more personal and allowed each other to explore our worlds. I like the blogging, because I feel like it is a way to allow us to express opinions to each other in a way that we are not able to do in class. We are beginning to talk about a topics on a much more personal scale compared to the broad ones we where talking about. So I see a lot more writing, and detail answers. This a lot of help to me. It challenges me to think deeply of what is being asked. I have seen myself come long ways from when we had first had our experience with this. I do not tend to focus on grammar or punctual things as much, because I do not feel as if it is as important as getting my message across. I enjoy blogging though overall

  8. Hey drew, I think they both play a factor in how much you write now. The topics do seem to be getting more interesting. Getting use to typing blogs more and more seems to kind of give me that well I don't mind typing as much as I did attitude; where as before I use to think I will just type enough for everyone to get the point.

  9. I think people commenting multiple times also shows were talking this more seriously. Before the comments would be the exact number of people in the class

    Jonathan and all,
I always had a hard time making people do grammar workshops or having a whole class devoted to grammar. I remember taking English classes and being bored to tears when we covered this stuff. I realized through writing creatively that punctuation in many ways is a type of art or an aesthetic preference. I started to think about commas as "breathe" and periods as a pause. When I actually took the time to memorize the rules so I could explain them as a writing consultant, I realized my instincts were often correct. Has your experience with grammar/ punctuation changed and how to you hope to learn and improve that aspect of your writing?

  11. I really enjoy sharring my ideas and my experiances in my life. We can all learn how different are lifes are and just being more open about our opinions about any topic. I think as a group we all can be more open about ideas with each other and also learn from each other as we go along in the program. I feel I improved my reading skills as well as my writting and grammer.
