Staying Sane

In our Monday lecture, the speaker talked about how creative people are more likely to suffer from depression and have thoughts of suicide. In true notebooks a lot of the characters say that one of the main reasons behind why they like to write is because it helps them escape from prison life and keep their heads up. Do you feel like you have your own creative "escape" from stresses such as the inmate's passion for writing?

  1. Yes. I feel like when I'm stressed I make my best music. I'm able to tune out the rest of the world for a breif couple of minutes and be able to focus on what makes me happy. By putting all of my efforts into this I feel like it is my best work. It also makes me less stressed.

  2. what escape me from stress is running, singing, and dancing but mainly running its not really the creative side but when i run i dont see anything its just my own path it gets alot out of my head its like im in my own zone with singing is more creative because the different runs and the tone of my voice you can hear my pain but singing makes me forget about and reliefs that stress

  4. Yes, I always lesson to my music when am mad, sad or just want to relax but my music no matter what happens I will be ok. I also think eating pizza or other foods I like to eat helps alot to make my body feel more relaxed from my long day I've been through.

  5. Even though I missed out on class today, I still fill like I want to give input on this topic.

I do feel like I have a way to escape hardship or emotional tares that seem to get to me at times. What I like to do is dance or play the piano when I am sad. I find this as something that relaxes me, not only relaxes me but allow me to think thoughts away from anger or sadness. I think that a lot of people have something that they could do to take them to a whole other place when they are down and out.

  6. I feel like in a sense, we all escape threw are writing whether we would like to embrace that concept or not. Because writing takes up time and during that time, one can almost escape their environment and create an interesting body of work.

  7. I wouldnt call it an escape, but my outlet is my loud stereo. If I'm down, depressed, indifferent, whatever, all I do is turn on some music, turn it up and feel it internally. Music a l w a y s makes me feel better.
